Community Update 05/24/20
Good Evening La Tierra Community,
It has come to our attention in the last few days that there are many questions regarding the 2020-2021 school year. While we do not have many firm answers right now we wanted to update you on the current situation. We are sure many of you have seen the CDC guidelines that have been circulating amid social media. While Mrs. Buller and I have reviewed these guidelines we would like to assure you that the CDC made clear that the guidelines are meant to supplement – not replace – any state, local or other regulations with which schools must comply. On May 1st the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) created a task force which has been working on developing guidelines for how Arizona schools can safely reopen. Superintendent of Public Instruction, Kathy Hoffman has stated the task force will release these guidelines by the end of May so schools may adequately prepare. Once we receive these guidelines, Mrs. Buller and myself with input from staff will formulate our plan along with several contingency plans. At this time we are anticipating school to begin as scheduled on Thursday, August 6th, 2020. We know these are challenging times and uncertainty adds to the stress but please rest assured that Mrs. Buller and I are working tirelessly to ensure that our students health and safety is at the forefront of all of our decisions at this time. As soon as we have state mandated guidance we will formulate our procedures for the upcoming school year and will inform you of them as soon as possible.
As we prepare our contingency plans we would like to get your feedback on the educational opportunities you received the last few months with a short survey. I have included the link to the survey at the end of this email. Please take a few minutes to complete this valuable information to assist us in contingency planning.
Thank you for your continued support and patience during this unprecedented time.
