Community Update 7/30/20

Hello wonderful La Tierra Community,

We hope this email finds you safe and healthy and enjoying the last days of summer. Attached to this email is La Tierra’s Distance Learning Plan which will begin on Monday, August 17th. Our plan outlines Teacher, Parent and Student Roles and Responsibilities during distance learning as well as expected time frames for teacher led instruction and student learning by grade. The Governor’s Order also includes that LTCS is required to provide onsite learning for students who need a safe place to go during distance learning. We will be sending a detailed letter via email on Monday, 8/3 outlining the requirements to qualify for this option which include mandatory health screenings and requirements for face coverings. This is not teacher-led instruction but a supervised place for students to complete distance learning during the school day.  Please don’t hesitate to contact Julie or myself with any questions regarding our plan.

Public Health Officials will be releasing benchmarks for opening campus for in-person learning on August 7th. Once we receive these benchmarks, we will be able to better determine when we can safely open our campus to students. When we are able to open La Tierra for in person learning, we will be releasing protocols regarding face coverings for students and staff according to the Governor’s new executive order. This order states that “schools will develop and implement policies to require face coverings until DHS determines they are no longer necessary or recommended to contain the spread of the virus.” These protocols will be required for students, staff and family members anytime they are on the LTCS campus.

Julie and I will be in touch as soon as we recieve any new information from the Governor and/or Public Health Officials along with the above mentioned items. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you have.

With Gratitude,

Rhette & Julie
