8/21/20 Community Update

Hello Wonderful La Tierra Families,

We hope your first week participating in Distance Learning was a success! As Julie and I continue to monitor guidance and health benchmarks put in place by ADHS, we want to update you on Yavapai County’s Benchmark numbers which determine when we can reopen campus safely.  For La Tierra to reopen it’s campus all 3 Benchmarks need to be in the Minimal Risk Category for 2 consecutive weeks. Two Benchmarks released yesterday fell within the Moderate Risk Level and one fell in the Minimal Risk Level for Yavapai County.  For the first Benchmark there were 56 cases per 100,000 people which falls in the Moderate Risk Level. The second benchmark showed a 6.1% positivity in COVID cases for Yavapai County which is also in the Moderate Risk Category. The third Benchmark showed 3.3% hospital visits due to COVID-like illness and this is in the Minimal Risk Category. Again, for La Tierra to reopen it’s campus all 3 Benchmarks need to be in the Minimal Risk Category for 2 consecutive weeks. We are tracking this information closely and will be sending weekly updates with information regarding the Health Benchmarks and when we can reopen campus safely.  If you have any questions about this information please feel free to call, email or come to the office and we will do our best to clarify any information you need.

This is just a reminder that there will be Distance Learning on Friday for the following dates, 8/21 (today), 8/28, 9/4, 9/11 and 9/18. These Fridays are make-up days due to our August 17th start date. If your child will be absent any of these days, please contact your classroom teacher and let them know. Thanks!

Supply pick up and drop off will begin on Fridays at 8am and will go through Sunday evening. We have a new fence installed in front of the school which will allow us to leave the front gate open so that you can pick up and drop off supplies at your convenience through Sunday night. Remember, all yellow papers need to be completed throughout the week and dropped off in your child’s classroom Return bin. Supplies for the following week will be picked up at the same time. Please see the video link below, starring our wonderful Ms. Klaiber, for pick up and drop off protocols.

Parent Information Nights will be held next week 8/24-8/27. These meetings will be ½ hour Zoom sessions with your child’s classroom teacher so they can give you pertinent information on curriculum, expeditions and any new distance learning information. Please see the schedule below for each grade level’s date and time.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns you might have.
Happy Friday,
