She is committed to promoting varied models of learning and more choices for families within the public education system.

Sierra’s family has been part of the La Tierra community since 2014, when her eldest child started Kindergarten. She is inspired by the passion, vision, love, and dedication that the La Tierra staff bring to this remarkable learning model. Her involvement with the board began as a way to give back to this exceptional school community. Bee Sena

Bee Sena’s connection to La Tierra developed through the school’s collaboration with Prescott College, where Bee is the Financial Aid Director.  A Phoenix native, her interest in Charter School work began through her involvement in the community education program for a local school district, where she served on a Steering Committee that helped develop a school of choice. Upon moving to Prescott with a preschooler, Bee became interested in Montessori education and other alternative philosophies towards learning.  She expanded upon her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, and Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration, by earning a Montessori Teacher’s certificate and 1/2 a Master’s degree in Special Education before settling into her current career in college level administration.  Bee believes in the philosophy that “Education is a Journey” and doesn’t think she’ll ever really be through with school.  She has just recently begun her next step in her education journey, joining Prescott College’s MBA – Sustainability Leadership program.

A native Arizonan and an almost-middle child in a family of nine kids, Bee loves Prescott, and is inspired by her mother who was an independent business woman who ran her own group day care home for 28 years.  Her favorite wall hanging she inherited from her mom says “If you are lucky enough to live in Prescott, you are lucky enough.”  Bee and her husband Eric, who also works at Prescott College in their I.T. department, are the proud parents of two college students and a highschooler.

Bee brings to our board her experiences as a parent at several of the charter schools in the Prescott Valley and Prescott areas, her administrative leadership skills, and perhaps most importantly, her passion to serve and make a difference in the Prescott community through collaboration.  She looks forward to helping strengthen La Tierra by contributing to building strong tools and infrastructure that support and highlight the inspiring work and passion of La Tierra’s teachers, and allows them to make a difference in the lives of every La Tierra student and family.
